How quickly will we see improvement?
Most students notice a shift in essay structure and argument quality within 3–4 sessions. Band improvement is typically visible within one term of consistent weekly work.
What if the tutor is not a good fit?

My child has tried tutoring before and it did not help.
That is usually a tutor-fit issue, not an English issue. Generic tutors who did not specialise in English Advanced rarely move the needle. Our tutors sat the exact same modules and know what separates a Band 5 from a Band 6 response.
Is online tutoring as effective as in-person?
For English it is often better. Students share essays in real time, receive live annotation feedback, and can review comments after the session. No commute, no disruption to the school week.
When should we start?
Year 11 is ideal. Building essay habits early pays off enormously in Year 12. But we regularly take on Year 12 students mid-course and make meaningful improvements before the HSC.
