Your child’s Band 6 in Extension 1
starts here.

Extension 1 is where strong maths students pull ahead. The difference is rarely ability. It is exposure to the harder questions before they appear in the exam.

Extension 1 layers harder topics on top of Maths Advanced, and the exam moves fast. Students who did well through Year 11 can hit a wall when the questions stop being routine and start demanding genuine problem-solving. The students who reach an E4 are simply the ones who have already seen the hardest question types and know how to start.

The gap is not effort. It is exposure to harder questions.

Real questions, honest answers

Can I get an HSC Maths Extension 1 tutor online?

Yes. We offer online HSC Maths Extension 1 tutoring for Year 11 and 12 students across Sydney and NSW. Sessions use a shared interactive whiteboard and are recorded after each lesson. The first lesson is free with no lock-in.

What topics does your Extension 1 tutoring cover?

The full NESA Extension 1 syllabus: mathematical induction, vectors, inverse trigonometric functions, binomial distribution, harder integration, differential equations, and the harder extension of Maths Advanced content.

Is Maths Extension 1 worth doing for the ATAR?

For students who can score above 75, Extension 1 is almost always worth doing. It scales up moderately and provides four total units of maths in the aggregate compared to two for Advanced alone. Students likely to score below 70 should model the ATAR impact carefully first, and our tutors can help with that decision.

Can my child do both Extension 1 and Extension 2?

Yes. Extension 2 is studied on top of Extension 1 in Year 12, and students must be enrolled in both concurrently. We tutor both courses and often support students across the two.

How much does Extension 1 tutoring cost?

The first lesson is completely free with no lock-in contract. After that, sessions are priced per lesson at the standard senior rate. See the pricing page for current rates.

Ready to see if it’s a fit?
